Senior Machinist Hourly Pay Range $25.00 - $36.00/hr Skaber Manufacturing is looking for an experienced and qualified CNC machinist / programmer. We are looking for someone with a passion for modern, digital manufacturing to join and lead our team. Responsibilities Operates and programs advanced, highly complex machinery like CNC machines. Develops and optimizes machining processes, including setup, tool selection, and programming. Conducts more intricate inspections using advanced measurement tools. Trains and mentors junior machinists and provides technical expertise. Troubleshoots complex machining and production issues, offering solutions to improve efficiency. Ensures the highest standards of quality control and often works on custom or precision parts. Participates in scheduling, workflow management, and machine maintenance planning. Acts as a liaison between the machinist team and management. Solves complex and unique machining challenges. Leads root cause analysis for quality issues and process inefficiency. Programs parts for production in CAD/CAM software. Designs and builds high-capacity fixtures. Read blueprints, layouts, sketches, or work orders to assess workpiece specifications and to determine tooling instructions, tools and materials needed, and sequences of operations. Determines and procures necessary raw materials for efficient machining operations. Troubleshoots when issues arise during production. Sets up machines for production runs. Performs work to current standard: removes workpieces from machines and checks to ensure that they meet specifications, uses measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Oversees tool purchasing and organization. Manages and trains machine operators. Manages the department and workload for other departments to obtain machined parts without delays. Keeps production running smoothly on our Haas VF2-SS, VF4-SS, TM2, and ST20Y machines. Functional Competencies Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and as a team, to make decisions based on sound work principles. Ability to pass training for a forklift license and to operate various warehouse equipment, including but not limited to a forklift, hand truck, and pallet jack. Adoption of continuous improvement culture and growth, both professionally and personally. A passion for modern, digital manufacturing. Ability to bend and lift to 50 pounds. Ability to stand or walk continuously throughout the workday. Expert in machine programming, setup, and operation. Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation skills. Proficient in using precision measurement instruments. Strong understanding of material properties, tolerances, and machining processes. Qualifications 7+ years of machining/programming experience, specializing in Haas CNC machines (ideal) Extensive hands-on experience with various types of machinery and materials. May hold advanced certifications or specialized training in CNC or precision machining. Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM software (ideally, Fusion 360) Experience with precision measurement tools Ability to design and build fixtures from scratch Broad knowledge of tooling and feeds/speeds CNC lathe and mill experience 5-axis machining experience (ideal) Lathe experience with the live tool and Y axis (ideal) Experience or keen interest in robotic machine tending Basic understanding of machine maintenance (ideal) A passion for learning new things and taking our milling operations to the next level.
