Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent measurement skills, and the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately. As a Manual Machinist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and precision of machined parts, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. Responsibilities Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce components with high precision. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing instructions accurately. Set up and calibrate machines, including selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to ensure parts meet specified tolerances. Perform routine maintenance on manual machining equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools and machining equipment. Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to verify part specifications and perform quality inspections. Maintain detailed records of machining processes, measurements, and inspection results. Assist in the development of machining procedures and improve workflow efficiency through lean manufacturing practices. Qualifications Proven experience in manual machining, including lathe work, grinding, and milling. Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Strong knowledge of machining tools, measurement instruments, and tooling setup. Familiarity with CNC programming concepts such as M-code, G-code, Fanuc controls, or similar systems is a plus. Ability to operate measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators for quality control. Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances. Knowledge of safety standards related to machine operation and handling power tools. Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision measurement in machining environments.
