For the past decade we have outsourced production of our products - now we're bringing manufacturing in-house to create a world-class precision machine shop in Porter, TX. We are seeking an experienced Lead CNC Machinist / Toolmaker to take a hands-on leadership role in setting up, running, and refining our new facility. This is not a typical machinist position - it's an opportunity to shape the future of a high-precision manufacturing operation from the ground up. Develop efficient workflows and establish high standards for quality and safety. Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce precision components. Collaborate with engineering to refine existing designs and improve manufacturability. Supervise daily shop operations, scheduling, and inspection processes. Maintain and repair shop equipment; coordinate maintenance schedules. Support material testing and small-scale heat-treatment work on site. Document processes and assist in onboarding future machinists as the team grows. What we're looking for 8-15 years of precision machining experience, including CNC mill, lathe, and EDM. Strong understanding of toolmaking, fixtures, and tight-tolerance work (±0.0005"). Comfortable with CAD/CAM (Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar). Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and quality control inspection methods. Proven leadership, organizational, and troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience commissioning or maintaining equipment is a plus. Desire to grow with a company and shape its technical direction. Why join us Be part of building a brand-new precision shop from the ground up. Work on advanced components for R&D, aerospace, and defense sectors. Competitive pay ($26-$38/hr depending on experience). Health, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and 401(k). Opportunities for professional growth and leadership as the operation expands. If you're a top-tier machinist who wants to take ownership of your work, influence design decisions, and help build a high-precision operation from day one, we'd like to hear from you.
