Hardwood Sawmill Starting Pay:

Full-Time We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Material Handler to join our hardwood sawmill team. This is a full-time, hands-on position responsible for moving, staging, stacking, and organizing lumber and other materials throughout the facility. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable working around heavy equipment and industrial machinery. What You'll Do Move and stage lumber, timbers, cants, boards, and other materials throughout the sawmill. Keep production areas supplied with the materials needed to maintain production. Remove finished and partially processed lumber from production areas. Stack and organize lumber by size, species, length, grade, or destination. Build safe and stable lumber packages. Assist with sorting, counting, measuring, and identifying lumber. Tag and label materials as needed. Load and unload lumber and supplies. Operate forklifts, loaders, or other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Inspect assigned equipment before use and report mechanical or safety concerns. Keep work areas, aisles, and material storage areas clean and organized. Remove scrap wood, banding, stickers, sawdust, and other debris from work areas. Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, and production issues to supervisors. Follow all company safety rules and PPE requirements. Assist with other sawmill and production duties as needed. What We're Looking For Dependable and able to report to work on time. Safety-conscious and aware of surroundings. Comfortable working around forklifts, loaders, conveyors, saws, and other industrial equipment. Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Willing to learn hardwood lumber sizes, species, products, and sawmill processes. Able to work in a fast-paced production environment. Willing and able to perform physical work throughout the shift. Previous experience in a sawmill, lumber yard, manufacturing facility, warehouse, construction environment, or other industrial setting is preferred but not required. Forklift, loader, or heavy-equipment experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Applicants must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work on uneven surfaces and around lumber and industrial equipment. Work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy conditions. Safely work around moving forklifts, loaders, conveyors, and machinery. Work Environment This position is located in an active hardwood sawmill.
Employees may be exposed to:
Loud machinery and equipment. Wood dust and sawdust. Hot and cold temperatures. Outdoor weather conditions. Moving forklifts, loaders, and production equipment. Rough lumber, splinters, and sharp edges. Oil, grease, and other normal industrial conditions. Required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated work areas. Schedule Monday through Thursday 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM Our regular production schedule provides employees with a four-day workweek and three-day weekend . Overtime or occasional additional workdays may be required depending on production needs. Pay Starting at $17.00 per hour Preferred Experience Sawmill or lumber experience Manufacturing or industrial experience Forklift or heavy-equipment experience Material handling or warehouse experience Experience is preferred but not required.
