1st Shift Join the NexGen Manufacturing Team NexGen Manufacturing is seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined Laser Operator to join our first-shift production team. We are looking for someone with the ambition to grow, strong organizational abilities, and a willingness to work hands-on while learning to operate and perform authorized routine maintenance on advanced laser-cutting equipment. Experience with Bystronic laser equipment is highly preferred, but candidates with strong mechanical ability and the motivation to learn are encouraged to apply. What You'll Do Set up, start, operate, and shut down laser-cutting equipment. Load and unload machines and stage raw materials for daily production. Complete assigned work according to production schedules, work instructions, and quality requirements. Inspect laser-cut parts using precision measuring and inspection equipment. Identify and promptly report equipment problems or deficiencies. Perform authorized routine maintenance, cleaning, and optic cleaning in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company safety procedures. Complete and route work-order documentation accurately. Safely operate a forklift to move and stage materials after completing required company training and evaluation. Communicate production needs, equipment issues, and material requirements to the appropriate departments. Assist the Pull Department with material handling and staging as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area. What We're Looking For Dependability, initiative, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned work. Strong mechanical ability and an interest in understanding how manufacturing equipment operates. Motivation to learn laser programs, NC machine code, precision inspection equipment, and Bystronic laser technology. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work hands-on and assist with related production and material-handling duties as needed. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, job travelers, and basic manufacturing drawings. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn to identify, metals commonly used in fabrication. Familiarity with sheet-metal flat patterns is preferred. Previous experience with Bystronic laser technology or similar laser-cutting equipment is highly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to successfully complete required forklift training and evaluation and maintain company authorization to operate a forklift. Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with company policies and procedures. Physical Demands This position requires regular standing and movement throughout a manufacturing environment. Employees must be able to bend, reach, twist, kneel, and perform other movements associated with operating equipment and handling materials. The position also requires employees to frequently lift, move, position, or otherwise handle materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment & Schedule Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that may include elevated noise levels, dust, moving equipment, and warmer temperatures, particularly during the summer. Required personal protective equipment must be worn, and all applicable safety procedures must be followed. This position is assigned to first shift.
