Coppersmith / Welder Eddington, ME 04428 From $20 an hour - Full-time From $20 an hour - Full-time Overview We are seeking skilled and motivated Coppersmiths / Welders to join our fabrication and construction team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling copper metal art components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of complex art projects involving copper metal. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about metal fabrication and welding to showcase their craftsmanship in a fast-paced environment. Duties Making Copper Weathervanes and other Copper Garden Art per customers request. Following custom instructions set out by customers. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine fabrication and welding requirements. Fabricate metal components using hand tools, power tools, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment. Perform various welding techniques including Soldering, Brazing, MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Measure and mark materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication. Cut, shape, and assemble handmade copper artwork, metal sculptures, and other metal materials following blueprints and schematics. Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling power tools, welding equipment, rigging gear, and heavy machinery such as forklifts. Requirements Proven experience working in fabrication shops with a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes. Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately. Hands-on experience with welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Familiarity with shop math concepts necessary for accurate measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks. Experience using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and machining equipment safely and effectively. Mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal fabrication, pipe threading, soldering, schematics interpretation, and manufacturing processes. Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship in a fast-paced environment.
