Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious saw operator to join our team. The saw operator is responsible for cutting lumber to specified dimensions using various types of saws and machinery to produce pallets. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow and ensuring quality standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate manual and/or automated saw equipment to cut wood components according to specified lengths and dimensions Inspect lumber for defects and ensure cuts are clean and accurate Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues as needed Stack, label, and organize cut wood components for assembly Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure production targets and deadlines are met Follow all company policies regarding quality control and workplace safety. Maintain a clean and organized work area Be responsible for all personal tools and Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, gloves, etc.) Follow safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment and handling materials to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and organized work area Know and observe rules of conduct at all times Work hours and shifts required to meet customer demands Other duties as assigned by Plant Management This list of duties is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that senior management may deem necessary.
Qualifications/Skills:
Previous experience in pallet building, carpentry, woodworking, or a related field is preferred but not required. On-the-job training may be provided for candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) and standing for extended periods Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment Commitment to following safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment Able to work in various weather conditions Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Comfortable working in a loud, dusty, and fast-paced environment
Pay:
$15.00 per hour during training. After training, compensation shifts to a piece rate system. With our piece rate system, you're in control of your earnings — the more you produce, the more you can earn.
