Job Title:
Packaging Operator Job Description The Packaging Operator serves as a dedicated material handler and support resource for packaging operations, ensuring continuous product flow throughout the manufacturing process. In this role, you transport materials between work centers, assist with kitting activities, clean products as needed, and operate material-handling equipment to keep production running smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Transport materials and products between designated locations and work centers according to established routes and schedules. Assist with kitting activities by gathering, organizing, and preparing components and materials required for production and packaging. Clean products as required to meet quality and cleanliness standards prior to packaging or further processing. Support packaging operations by supplying materials, removing finished goods, and helping maintain an efficient workflow. Operate an electric cart, wagon, or manually move materials along scheduled routes to ensure timely delivery to production areas. Maintain consistent product and material flow throughout the manufacturing process so that items are available where and when they are needed. Handle materials safely and efficiently to minimize damage and support inventory accuracy. Follow quality assurance procedures to ensure materials and packaged products meet required standards. Work collaboratively with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material movements and resolve any flow issues. Keep work areas clean and organized to support a safe and efficient packaging environment. Essential Skills Experience with material handling in a manufacturing, warehouse, or packaging environment. Ability to operate an electric cart or wagon and safely move materials manually along scheduled routes. Basic knowledge of packaging operations and workflow within a production setting. Understanding of quality assurance principles related to material handling and product cleanliness. Experience with inventory and inventory management practices to support accurate material flow. Ability to perform cleaning tasks on products and work areas to maintain required standards. Strong attention to detail and reliability in following routes, schedules, and procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team supporting production and packaging activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in warehouse packing or similar logistics roles. Familiarity with kitting processes and preparing materials for production. Comfort working in a structured environment with defined routes and workflows. Ability to adapt to changing production needs and material priorities. Willingness to learn and follow established manufacturing and packaging procedures. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Leesburg, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.90/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
