Injection Mold Set Up Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities and Authority
  • Perform preventive maintenance and internal repairs on injection molds and production fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair injection molds and tooling to support production requirements.
  • Inspect molds for wear, damage, alignment, cooling, ejection and other conditions that may affect production or quality.
  • Perform mold disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly and testing.
  • Perform minor plant machinist duties as required, including fitting, grinding, drilling, machining and related tooling repair.
  • Read and interpret tooling drawings, mechanical prints and other technical documentation as required.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on mold components, including hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling, ejection and hot-runner components, as applicable.
  • Perform scheduled weekly PMs on molds in presses or out of press and document completion on PM Work Orders.
  • Place PM tags on molds and maintain required mold identification.
  • Complete work orders to document mold PM, repairs and other tooling work.
  • Place molds in the assigned mold rack/location following established procedures.
  • Identify and report mold or tooling conditions requiring additional repair or machining.
  • Provide emergency back-up for mold and fixture transportation, mold setting, molding machine start-ups and maintenance as required.
  • Assist Process Technicians, Maintenance, Production and Quality personnel with troubleshooting mold-related production issues.
  • Assist manufacturing as required to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Maintain accurate records of mold repairs, PMs and tooling activities in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards in the work area and assigned tooling areas.
  • Utilize required safety equipment at all times, as appropriate for the work being performed.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout and other applicable safety procedures when performing maintenance or repairs.
  • Communicate between shifts to ensure a smooth turnover of tooling and maintenance information.
  • Assist in the implementation of new equipment, processes, tooling and projects at Amara.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System are met within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Have flexibility to complete other relevant duties and projects assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Skilled Trades Manager. Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of experience in injection mold maintenance, tool and die, mold making, tooling, or related manufacturing experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Tooling and machining experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of injection molding and injection mold construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic prints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mold-related mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and common tooling/maintenance equipment.
  • Forklift training.
  • Overhead Crane training.
  • Lockout/Tagout training.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, tooling, maintenance, quality and production personnel.
  • On-the-job training and other required training programs. Pay Range $32.00
