Furnace Operator Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

Under the direction of the Furnace Supervisor the Furnace Operator sets up and operates manufacturing equipment associated with material fabrication.

Job Description Job Description Key Responsibilities:

Loads specified furnace that re-melts nonferrous alloyed metals used in die casting process: shovels specified proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace. Mix fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface. Skims slag from surface of molten metal, using hand strainer. Transfer molten metal from furnace to bull ladle to die casting holding furnace. Clean furnaces and equipment. Overtime as required. Other duties assigned by supervisor or lead. .

Key Performance Measures:

Must have forklift experience. Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.

High school diploma or GED. Ability to maintain normal flow of production. Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing. Ability to read, write and speak English.
