Overview Fairbanks Sewer and Water has an opportunity for aCollege Utilitiesfor aUtility Operator. The position is responsible for performing operations and maintenance on water and wastewater utility infrastructure as well as construction of new water mains and sewer mains and associated infrastructure. The selected candidate must obtain the required ADEC certifications for the level rating of the utilities within four (4) years of hire. The selected candidate must obtain and maintain a valid State of Alaska Commercial Driver's License within one (1) year of hire. Work Hours and Schedule This position will be based inFairbanks, AK. Schedule is Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required. Must be available to work shift work; weekend scheduling may be required. What You'll Do Perform preventative maintenance on water and wastewater utility infrastructure.\nPerform general mechanical overhaul and repair work on fire hydrants, circulating stations, gate valves, lift stations, pumps, and motors.\nPerform basic electrical troubleshooting and maintenance at lift station and circulating station control panels.\nAbility to operate and/or learn to operate heavy equipment Purpose of the Job Experience and Eudcation Possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Alaska Commercial Driver's License in accordance with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986.\nCapable of obtaining the required ADEC certifications for the level rating of the utilities within eight (8) years.\nHigh school graduate or equivalent.
