About the Position The Utilities Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations, maintenance, construction, repair, and inspection activities associated with the community's potable water, reclaimed water, wastewater collection, and irrigation systems. This leadership role oversees utility personnel and contractors, ensures regulatory and safety compliance, coordinates field operations, manages resources and equipment, and delivers exceptional service to our residents.
We Are Actively Seeking Candidates Who:
Lead by example and have experience supervising and motivating field crews Have a strong background in utility operations, including water distribution, wastewater collection, and irrigation systems Prioritize workplace safety and adhere to regulatory requirements Communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, vendors, and contractors Take ownership of projects and are comfortable making sound decisions in the field Thrive in a fast-paced outdoor environment and can successfully balance multiple responsibilities Required Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of experience in utility operations involving water distribution, wastewater collection, irrigation systems, construction, maintenance, and repair. Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience leading and directing field personnel. Experience operating backhoes, mini-excavators, and related utility construction equipment. (Or willingness to be trained within 90 days) Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must pass a background check and drug screen. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity. Preferred Qualifications Experience interpreting engineering drawings and utility plans. Experience coordinating utility contractors and vendors. Working knowledge of Florida 811 locate procedures and utility marking practices. Main Areas of Responsibility Utility Operations & Field Supervision Supervise daily activities involving water distribution, reclaimed water, wastewater collection, and irrigation infrastructure. Direct and monitor field crews to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Coordinate equipment, personnel, materials, and contractor resources. Conduct job site inspections and determine project scope and work requirements. Water Distribution, Wastewater & Irrigation Systems Oversee maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of water mains, service lines, sewer infrastructure, and irrigation systems. Support preventive maintenance programs and emergency response efforts. Ensure operational reliability and service continuity throughout the community. Safety & Compliance Enforce safety policies, trench safety requirements, PPE standards, confined space procedures, and traffic control practices. Assist with accident investigations and reporting. Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. Utility Locates & Infrastructure Management Coordinate and oversee 811 utility locate activities. Investigate damaged utilities and assist with determining responsibility. Maintain accurate infrastructure records, as-builts, and field documentation. Leadership & Employee Development Train, coach, mentor, and evaluate utility staff. Assist with hiring, employee development, disciplinary actions, and performance management. Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment. Special Knowledge & Technical Skills Preferred candidates will possess knowledge and experience in: Water distribution systems (potable and reclaimed) Wastewater collection systems, gravity mains, and force mains Irrigation systems and infrastructure maintenance Utility construction and repair techniques 811 utility locating procedures Trench safety and excavation practices Confined space entry procedures Traffic control and work zone safety Contractor oversight and field coordination Reading utility plans, specifications, and as-built drawings Microsoft Office and computerized work order/service request systems Operation of backhoes, mini-excavators, pumps, and related utility equipment
