Position Overview Under close supervision, assist the Senior Health Safety Technician in performing duties related to radiological control under the direction of management for the Environment, safety and Health (ES&H) support in one or more functional areas of Industrial Hygiene (IH), Industrial Safety (IS), Radiological or Environmental for the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Functional:
Grade 1 (0-18 mos. Service) Implement the day-to-day programmatic aspects of the Radiological Protection Plan under the guidance of a Senior HST RAD. Support generation of radiological data and reports. Support radiological control (RADCON) personnel in activities performed in compliance with written work plans, protocols, and procedures under the guidance of the Senior HST RAD. May assume the following limited HST RAD responsibilities only at the direction of line management once the proper training is completed: Operate laboratory counting instrumentation Perform a source check of instrumentation, and Perform routine compliance surveys of non-radiological areas. Grade 2 (19 - 36 mos. Service) May perform all the assigned of an Jr. HST Grade 1 May assume the following limited JR HST Grade 1 responsibilities at the direction of the management: Conduct limited job coverage duties of low hazard. Perform non-respirator radiological work in the following radiologically controlled areas: Radioactive materials areas Contamination control zones Radiological buffer areas Contamination Areas Perform free-release or quality assurance-related surveys only when partnered with qualified Senior HST. Responsible for the collection, general cleanup, and bagging of any waste produced while performing any assigned tasks. Job Requirements:
General Requirements (Must meet
DOE O 426.2
minimum requirements) : High school diploma or equivalent Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) credential Preferred to have six months of work experience in applied physics or show applicable education and/or training. Meet professional certification requirements - progression toward National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) certification desired. Successful completion of the
RAD WORKER TRAINING
RAD Core Academic, RAD Site specific. Pass a pre-employment background and drug-screen examination, as well as periodic random drug screens. General awareness training of asbestos and PCB Could be included in the temperature extremes monitoring program Must pass senior radiological requirements test in three (3) years. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Clearance.
