The Utility Plant Operator 2 position with the Department of Human Services offers a chance to take on meaningful work that keeps essential hospital systems running. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on operating and maintaining steam boilers and related systems that support daily hospital needs. You help keep essential equipment running smoothly while working closely with plant staff. As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will perform the following duties:
Shift Operations:
Manage boilers and related equipment during an assigned shift to ensure continuous steam production
Equipment Monitoring:
Check performance levels of plant systems and report any unusual conditions to supervisors
Water Management:
Maintain correct boiler water levels, as well as test and treat water to protect equipment
Record Keeping:
Log readings, update charts, and enter required information into shift records
Maintenance Support:
Assist with equipment repairs and guide less senior staff when needed
Safety Compliance:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Wednesday - Sunday. Overtime as required and subject to emergency call in

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.
