Dry Plant Operator I

Job Description

The Dry Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting dry plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. This position works with equipment such as dryers, crushers, screens, conveyors, elevators, pumps, and baghouses while monitoring plant conditions and making operational adjustments as needed. The Dry Plant Operator also assists with equipment inspections, basic troubleshooting and maintenance, housekeeping, and other activities necessary to meet production, safety, and quality goals. A good understanding of plant operations and a strong commitment to safe work practices are essential for success in this role. High school diploma or GED. Good understanding of plant operations. Strong commitment to workplace safety and product quality. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks as needed. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout all seasons. Ability to climb multiple levels using stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms. Ability to safely use common hand tools, including shovels, hammers, wrenches, and similar equipment. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and requirements. Forklift operating experience. Experience using computer software and basic computer systems. Previous warehouse, manufacturing, mining, or industrial plant experience. Inspect the immediate work area and equipment prior to beginning operations to identify potential safety or operational concerns. Start and operate plant equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyor belts, pumps, hydrosizers, filter belts, dryers, elevators, and related equipment in accordance with established procedures. Operate and monitor crushers, dryers, and associated equipment to support safe and efficient plant production. Monitor equipment performance and make operational adjustments as needed. Identify equipment issues and perform minor repairs or troubleshooting within the scope of the position. Shut down equipment safely and in accordance with established operating procedures. Maintain clean and orderly work areas by removing debris, spilled material, and other potential hazards. Assist with routine maintenance and preventive maintenance activities as directed by management. Follow all company safety, environmental, quality, and operating procedures. Communicate equipment or operational concerns to appropriate team members and management. Perform additional duties as assigned.
