Under general supervision performs various operations and maintenance activities of the City's water reclamation plant and collection lift stations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following representative duties knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Reads gauges; records readings; checks fluid levels; adds and changes fluids in pumps motors and gear boxes; greases bearings; cleans tanks.
Operates a full lab; runs various tests; reports laboratory results to the TCEQ.
Walks through the wastewater plant to monitor plant operations; monitors the main lift station to ensure proper operations.
Operates the Belt press; makes adjustments as necessary; performs regular maintenance.
Checks all lift stations outside the plant; ensures all pumps are operating correctly.
Replaces CL2 and SO2 cylinders; checks cylinders for leaks.
Monitors plant operations during off-duty hours.
Maintains the plant grounds and facilities; performs mowing weed removal spraying and related tasks.
Plants trees and flowers around the wastewater facilities.
Attends various professional development training sessions.
Keeps abreast of technology changes and new regulatory rules and regulations.
Required to be on-call.
Supports the relationship between the City of Plainview and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; AND two years of experience in water reclamation operations preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License. Class D Wastewater Treatment Operator license within one year & Class C Wastewater Treatment Operator within two years.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both in an indoor and outdoor work environment. May be exposed to dangerous machinery; extreme weather conditions; potential physical harm; hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. May be required to climb ladders and work in confined spaces. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 85 pounds. Knowledge and Skills (preferred)

TCEQ regulations.
Wastewater lab procedures.
State and federal regulations regarding sewage treatment.
SCADA systems.
Principles and practices of troubleshooting.

Explaining state and federal rules and regulations and City policies and procedures.
Analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.
Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks projects and demands.
Operating motorized maintenance equipment.
Operating a personal computer and various software applications.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other City staff vendors suppliers contractors external public agencies schools and the general public.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
