Full-Time- 1st shift 5-2PM- 2nd shift Position Summary The Assistant Inserter Operator supports the Inserter Operator in the setup, operation, monitoring, and cleanup of high-speed inserting equipment used to process printed materials for mailing. This position is responsible for keeping the inserter supplied with materials, maintaining accurate production flow, performing quality checks, and assisting with changeovers and troubleshooting. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Inserter Operator with setup and operation of inserting equipment. Load envelopes, forms, inserts, booklets, and other materials into the inserter. Keep production equipment continuously supplied with materials. Monitor feeders, conveyors, pockets, hoppers, and delivery areas for proper operation. Perform routine quality checks to ensure pieces are correctly assembled and inserted. Verify job specifications, materials, counts, and sequencing. Identify and remove jams, misfeeds, doubles, and improperly assembled pieces. Assist with machine changeovers and adjustments between jobs. Maintain accurate production counts and report production issues to the Operator. Assist with weighing, counting, bundling, tray preparation, and palletizing completed mail. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow company safety procedures and proper machine operating procedures. Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance as directed. Assist with troubleshooting equipment problems and communicate issues to the Operator or supervisor. Follow all job tickets, production instructions, quality-control procedures, and postal requirements. Perform other production duties as assigned. Quality Responsibilities Inspect finished pieces for proper insertion, sealing, addressing, and overall appearance. Perform periodic quality checks throughout the production run. Immediately report quality problems or discrepancies. Separate defective or questionable pieces from good production. Help maintain accurate counts and job accountability. Qualifications Previous experience in printing, mailing, inserting, bindery, or production is preferred but not required. Ability to read and follow written production instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine operation. Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced production environment. Strong attention to detail. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift and move materials as required. Ability to work independently and as part of a production team. Physical Requirements Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, lift, and move materials. Ability to lift boxes, cartons, and production materials within company-established limits. Ability to work around operating machinery while following required safety procedures. Performance Expectations Maintain consistent production flow and minimize downtime. Follow all safety and quality procedures. Maintain accurate counts and documentation. Keep equipment and work areas clean and organized. Communicate effectively with the Inserter Operator and Production Supervisor. Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail. Advancement Opportunity Successful Assistant Inserter Operators may advance to Inserter Operator , with additional training in machine setup, troubleshooting, changeovers, production optimization, and quality control.
Pay:
$19.00 per hour
