Senior Metal Fabrication Technician Overview Join our dynamic team as a Senior Metal Fabrication Technician and become a vital contributor to our innovative manufacturing and Fabrication projects! We are seeking an experienced Senior Metal Fabrication Technician to set up, program, troubleshoot and maintain CNC and conventional sheet metal fabrication equipment used to manufacture precision components and assemblies. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on experience with turret punch presses, brake presses, shears, and related equipment — including equipment from brands such as Amada, Murata Wiedemann, and Cincinnati and takes ownership of processes with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Independently set up, program and troubleshoot turret punch presses, press brakes, shears and related fabrication equipment, and train operators on proper machine operation. Develop machinery programs using Striker Systems software. Adjust CNC turret punch presses and press brakes to correct offsets, tool paths, and bend sequences. Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards. Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD/CAM programs; select appropriate tooling, dies, and bend sequences for each job. Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, protractors, and other precision measuring instruments. Monitor production runs, adjust setups to maintain dimensional accuracy, and correct for material springback and tooling wear. Diagnose dimensional or quality issues and determine whether corrections are needed to programming, tooling, machine setup or material. Develop a schedule and oversee preventive maintenance on fabrication equipment and troubleshoot minor mechanical, tooling, or programming issues. Troubleshoot fabrication equipment and manage repairs as needed. Perform basic calibration and adjustment of machine control systems, limit switches, and encoders in coordination with maintenance and controls personnel. Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime documentation in accordance with company procedures. Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and 5S/housekeeping standards on the shop floor. Required Qualifications 3-5 years of hands-on experience in setting up and operating turret punch presses, press brakes, shears, and/or punch presses in a manufacturing environment. Ability to independently perform machine setups, tooling changes and production changeovers. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, engineering drawings, and specifications. Strong understanding of sheet metal properties, tolerances, and bend allowances. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, protractors) and basic inspection techniques. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. High school diploma or GED. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work safely around industrial equipment. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience operating turret punch presses, press brakes, shears, and/or punch presses. Technical/trade school certification in metal fabrication or industrial electronics. Experience programming CNC turret punch presses or press brakes. Basic electrical/electronics troubleshooting experience in machine control systems. Prior experience mentoring or leading shop floor operators. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement practices. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
