20-30 direct reports (Team Leads & Production Staff) About the Role TuscoMFG is a custom metal fabrication job shop in Gnadenhutten, OH, running laser/turret cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly across a high-mix, low-volume production floor. We're looking for a hands-on Production Manager to own day-to-day performance on the floor — hitting spec, on-time delivery, and labor and scrap targets — while leading a team of Team Leads and production staff through daily execution. What You'll Do Floor Leadership Directly manage all Team Leads and production employees in each process area Run daily production huddles or shift handoffs to align the team on priorities and open issues Hold regular one-on-ones with Team Leads and associate staff; coach, develop, and manage performance in partnership with HR Approve time-off requests, manage overtime, and balance staffing across areas as workload shifts Build bench strength by identifying and developing future Team Leads and cross-trained operators Schedule Execution Ensure the floor executes against the schedule built by our Production Scheduler, and own schedule adherence across departments When something falls behind, bring a clear recovery plan — root cause, corrective action, and revised timeline Work closely with the Scheduler on realistic capacity, planned downtime, and staffing changes that affect what's achievable Escalate to the Director of Operations & Facilities Management when a schedule risk can't be resolved through normal recovery steps Quality & Continuous Improvement Ensure production output meets spec and customer quality requirements across all departments Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action on recurring quality or schedule issues Champion continuous improvement on the floor — 5S, standard work, cycle-time reduction Schedule & On-Site Expectations On-site at the start of the production shift to lead the morning huddle and set priorities for the day. Primarily floor-based throughout the shift; when away from the floor, reachable by phone or text for anything that comes up. What We Offer Health, vision, dental, & life insurance 401k with company match Paid Time Off in first year 10 Paid Company Holidays (two days at Thanksgiving & Christmas) Paid training and opportunities for advancement What You'll Bring Required 5+ years of production leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including direct supervisory or management responsibility Experience managing through a lead or supervisor layer — managing managers/leads, not just individual contributors Comfortable reading engineering prints and work order travelers Strong coaching and conflict-resolution skills; able to hold Team Leads accountable without micromanaging technical decisions Preferred Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (Epicor or comparable) Experience in job-shop, high-mix/low-volume production environments and routing logic Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement certification/training Physical Requirements Frequent walking of the full production floor across all departments and shifts Primarily floor-based with office time for reporting and administrative duties; exposure to shop floor noise Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs TuscoMFG is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
