Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor leads and develops a team of production employees while overseeing daily operations to ensure safety, quality, and output goals are consistently met. This role coordinates staffing and work assignments, monitors production processes, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and performance across the production floor. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a team of production employees through effective onboarding, training, performance management, and ongoing employee development. Coordinate staffing levels and work assignments to ensure production requirements and schedules are consistently met. Oversee all production activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and established production targets. Monitor production processes in real time to identify bottlenecks, issues, or deviations from standards, and implement timely corrective actions. Track, analyze, and drive key performance metrics to improve productivity, quality, and operational effectiveness. Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, workflow, and overall production performance using continuous improvement principles. Promote and maintain a culture of safety and accountability on the production floor. Collaborate with other departments to support smooth production operations and resolve cross-functional issues as needed. Essential Skills Proven experience in production supervision or production management within an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate production teams. Demonstrated ability to coordinate staffing and work assignments to meet production requirements. Experience overseeing production activities to ensure safety, quality, and production standards are consistently achieved. Solid understanding of production processes and workflows in an industrial setting. Ability to monitor and drive key performance metrics related to safety, quality, and productivity. Skill in identifying production issues and implementing effective corrective actions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with lean manufacturing principles and tools. Knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and practices. Industrial manufacturing experience. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and functions.
