Position Summary Periwinklers Architectural Millwork is seeking an experienced, hands-on Plant Foreman to lead the daily operations of our custom architectural woodworking facility. Reporting directly to the Owner, this position is responsible for supervising a team of approximately 10 employees while ensuring projects are produced safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the exceptional quality standards that define the Periwinklers brand. This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building people, improving processes, and creating a highly organized manufacturing operation capable of supporting the company's growth from $2.5 million to $5 million in annual sales.
Primary Responsibilities Production Leadership
Direct and oversee all daily shop operations.
Develop and maintain weekly production schedules.
Coordinate workflow between engineering, machining, assembly, sanding, finishing, shipping and Installation.
Balance labor resources to meet production priorities and delivery commitments.
Monitor production capacity and remove bottlenecks before they affect schedules. Team Leadership
Supervise, coach, and develop approximately 10 shop employees.
Assign daily work and establish clear priorities.
Conduct weekly production meetings and daily shop huddles.
Train and mentor employees while developing future shop leaders.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Quality & Safety
Maintain Periwinklers' reputation for outstanding craftsmanship.
Ensure work meets company quality standards and applicable AWI standards.
Minimize rework and warranty issues through proactive quality control.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace by enforcing OSHA requirements and company safety policies. Operational Excellence
Improve workflow, labor efficiency, and production scheduling.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Coordinate preventive equipment maintenance and tooling requirements.
Support inventory control and ensure materials are available when needed.
Work closely with Ownership, Engineering, Estimating, Project Management, Purchasing, Finishing, and Installation to keep projects moving efficiently. --- Qualifications Required
10+ years of woodworking manufacturing experience.
5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of architectural woodworking, cabinet construction, machining, veneering, assembly, sanding, and finishing.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
Proven experience with production scheduling and workflow management.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred
Experience with Innergy ERP software.
Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
