Contract with strong potential for extension Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead approximately 20-40 union production employees in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing and quality environment. This position is responsible for coordinating production activities while supporting safety, throughput, vehicle quality, timekeeping, employee leadership, and overall production effectiveness. The supervisor will play a key role in evaluating vehicle and product quality, identifying production or quality issues, and determining appropriate corrective actions. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can work independently, communicate effectively, and make timely decisions in situations where complete information may not always be immediately available. Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and leadership for approximately 20-40 hourly union employees. Coordinate daily production activities to support safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency objectives. Maintain a strong, hands-on presence within the manufacturing environment. Monitor vehicle and product quality against established standards. Evaluate products to determine whether they meet quality requirements. Identify vehicle, production, and quality issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. Communicate quality concerns and corrective actions to employees and appropriate cross-functional teams. Support employee timekeeping and other day-to-day workforce management responsibilities. Make timely operational decisions in a fast-paced production environment. Identify opportunities to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and overall efficiency. Support production tracking and quality-control processes. Work closely with the salaried supervisor supporting the opposite shift to ensure effective communication, coordination, and continuity between shifts. Provide clear direction to employees while holding team members accountable for safety, quality, and production expectations. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience . Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and/or quality processes. Demonstrated people leadership or supervisory capabilities. Ability to lead employees effectively in a union manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to make timely decisions with limited or incomplete information. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in Business or a related field. Previous production leadership or supervisory experience. Automotive manufacturing experience. Previous experience with vehicle or product quality. Experience leading hourly or union employees. Supervisors rotate between first and second shift approximately every three months: 1st
Shift:
6:00 AM - 3:00 PM 2nd
Shift:
3:00 PM - 12:00 AM Supervisors should expect to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled shift and remain approximately 30 minutes afterward to support shift transitions and production continuity. Approximately 5 hours of overtime per week may be required. Supervisors typically continue working during summer and winter plant shutdown periods. Additional Information This position provides direct exposure to Corvette production and offers hands-on experience in automotive manufacturing, vehicle quality, union workforce leadership, and production operations. The initial assignment is approximately six months , with a strong possibility of extension and potential opportunities for direct employment based on performance and business needs.
