Job Overview We are seeking a Lead Foreman responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring that vessel repairs and maintenance are completed on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards. This role bridges management and the workforce, requiring both technical expertise and strong leadership.
Duties Supervision & Coordination:
Oversee daily shipyard operations, managing skilled trades such as welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair. Coordinate with engineering, welding, and fabrication teams to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
Task Assignment & Scheduling:
Assign work to crews based on skill sets and project needs, and manage schedules to meet deadline.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce maritime safety regulations, conduct safety briefings, and ensure all work is performed in a hazard-free environment.
Quality Control:
Inspect materials, tools, and workmanship to ensure compliance with technical specifications and classification society standards.
Progress Monitoring:
Monitor work progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
Communication:
Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain smooth operations.
Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed logs of work performed, materials used, and inspections conducted.
Equipment & Material Management:
Inspect and manage equipment and materials to ensure they meet project requirements.
Problem Solving:
Quickly identify and resolve operational or technical issues to prevent delays and cost overruns. Qualifications Strong leadership and communication abilities to coordinate diverse teams. Technical knowledge of shipbuilding, repair, and maritime safety regulations. Problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle on-the-spot challenges. Time management and organizational skills to keep projects on schedule. Ability to motivate and guide teams to maintain productivity and safety standards.
