About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Distiller / Distillery Manager to lead our craft beverage production operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the complete distillery process-from fermentation and distillation through blending, packaging, inventory, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on distilling experience, excellent mechanical aptitude, and the leadership skills necessary to manage a production team. You should also be comfortable working with food safety regulations, developing new spirits, maintaining detailed production records, and engaging with guests through tours and educational classes.

Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily distillery operations, including fermentation, distillation, blending, proofing, and packaging.
Operate and monitor distillation equipment while ensuring recipes, procedures, and quality standards are consistently followed.
Lead and supervise production employees, providing training, direction, and performance guidance.
Maintain high standards for sanitation, food safety, and production quality.
Ensure compliance with HACCP, CGMP, OSHA/safety requirements, and applicable beverage manufacturing standards.
Troubleshoot production equipment and perform basic mechanical repairs or coordinate maintenance as needed.
Monitor batch quality, production specifications, yields, and consistency.
Maintain accurate production, batch, sanitation, inventory, and quality records.
Handle and manage industrial cleaning chemicals in accordance with established safety procedures.
Manage raw materials, finished spirits, packaging supplies, storage, and warehouse inventory.
Safely operate or oversee the use of forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Collaborate with the Tasting Room and Restaurant teams to coordinate spirits for cocktail menus and customer offerings.
Assist with the development and testing of new spirits and beverage products.
Maintain detailed records of product experimentation, recipes, processes, and results.
Support regulatory reporting and monthly tax preparation.
Ensure compliance with applicable TTB and Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) requirements.
Conduct tours of the distillery and educate guests about the distillation process.
Lead Spirit Making Classes and Cocktail Classes.
Represent the brand professionally and help create an engaging experience for customers and visitors.
Identify opportunities for process improvements that increase efficiency, safety, quality, and production consistency.
Qualifications & ExperienceProven hands-on experience in spirits distillation, craft distilling, or beverage manufacturing.
Previous experience as a Distiller, Head Distiller, Master Distiller, Distillery Manager, or Production Manager is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of fermentation, distillation, blending, proofing, and spirits production.
Experience with production equipment and strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of HACCP, CGMP, sanitation, quality control, and food safety practices.
Experience supervising and training production employees.
Familiarity with industrial chemical handling and workplace safety procedures.
Experience with inventory management, warehouse operations, and material handling.
Forklift experience/certification is a plus.
Strong mathematical skills for measurements, recipes, batch calculations, yields, and quality assessments.
Knowledge of TTB regulations and MLCC laws/procedures is highly desirable.
Experience with beverage packaging and distribution is a plus.
Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to interact professionally with customers and confidently lead tours and educational classes.
Creative mindset and interest in developing innovative, Michigan-inspired spirits.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and perform physical tasks, including lifting and manual material handling.
