Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tooling Room Supervisor to lead a growing injection mold tooling operation supporting production programs within the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries . This is first and foremost a people leadership position . The ideal candidate will have a strong injection mold tooling background but, more importantly, will have demonstrated experience supervising Tool Makers, coordinating workflow, setting priorities, and keeping tooling projects on schedule. The tooling operation is focused specifically on production injection mold tooling — this is not a sheet metal or prototype tooling environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise a team of approximately 11 Tool Room employees , with anticipated growth to 13-14 employees, plus two employees on night shift. Plan, prioritize, and coordinate daily Tool Room activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to Tool Makers and other tooling personnel. Oversee the build, repair, modification, and maintenance of production injection mold tooling. Coordinate tooling activities through build, tryout, startup, troubleshooting, and production readiness . Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to resolve tooling issues. Monitor workload, manpower, schedules, and project priorities. Identify tooling concerns and help drive corrective actions during mold tryouts and startups. Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established quality standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Tool Room. Maintain an organized, productive, and safety-focused tooling environment. Tooling Environment The Tool Room supports a diverse mix of production injection mold tooling, including: Approximately 60-70% P20 production tooling Approximately 30-40% aluminum tooling Slides and lifters Hydraulic cylinders Hot runner systems Sequential valve gating Semi-complex production molds Programs support customers within the automotive, aerospace, and defense markets . Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of Tool Room, Tooling, or Mold Shop supervisory experience . Strong background with injection mold tooling and production molds . Demonstrated ability to lead and manage experienced Tool Makers and skilled trades personnel. Strong understanding of mold construction, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and tryout processes. Experience with P20 steel and aluminum injection mold tooling strongly preferred. Knowledge of slides, lifters, hot runners, hydraulic systems, and valve-gated molds. Ability to read and interpret tooling drawings, prints, and technical documentation. Strong organizational and scheduling skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tooling projects and changing production priorities. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
