Job Description

SEMO Milling has an exciting opportunity for a Mill Lead! I. Position Purpose Reporting to the Mill Manager, this position is responsible for providing leadership and training on a specific shift within the mill production area. II. Position Responsibilities and Duties Performing duties as directed by others to ensure the following duties are managed accurately and timely: Mill Operations Maximize mill yield and throughput. Organize shift personnel in all facets of mill production. Provide machinery expertise for each process equipment item. Make on-line process control decisions as required and directed. Coordinate with Lab personnel to ensure production quality specifications are within guidelines. Troubleshoot operational and machinery problems. Develop key indicators to measure quality, productivity, and utilization. Train operators and support personnel as needed. Create a team working environment within area. Evaluate performance of operations. Utilize the IMS and SPC where applicable. Responsible for quality of work within area. Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engaged in continuous improvement programs such as SOP's. Quality, Safety and Sanitation Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements General Leadership Ensure all regulatory compliance. Follow established Human Resources procedures. Ensure proper training and adherence to area SOP's. Assist with evaluating the performance of subordinates. Create a team working environment. Develop key indicators to measure quality and productivity. Open Communications to be a team-player and do other tasks as necessary. III. Essential Skills This position actively engages in daily operations and is engaged in cross-functional management teams to develop and support policies and procedures in accordance with the company Vision, Values, and Strategic Objectives. In addition, good oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, strong leadership skills, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively work with and direct a team environment are critical.
Education Level:
High School Diploma or GED Related Experience:
4 years of supervisory experience Superior mechanical aptitude Basic electrical knowledge Familiarity with automated process controls Good written and oral communication skills Team oriented IV. Physical and Mental Requirements This position requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness and stamina for the length of an entire 8-12 hour work shift each day. Occasional to frequent lifting of 50-100 pounds, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional to frequent stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. This working environment for this position will include occasional to frequent work in both extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
