FOOD PRODUCTION ASSISTANT/FLOOR SUPERVISOR

Job Description

Role Overview:

Looking for a hands-on Production Assistant to manage daily floor operations and keep manufacturing moving smoothly. You will be the boots-on-the-ground lead ensuring jobs are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Job Requirements:
Standing & Mobility:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and stretch for long periods (often 8-12 hours per shift) with minimal downtime.

Lifting & Carrying:

Regularly lift, move, and position heavy materials or boxes (typically 30 to 50 lbs unassisted, occasionally up to 75+ lbs with assistance or equipment).

Punctuality & Reliability:

Strict adherence to start times, break schedules, and end-of-shift handoffs—downtime directly impacts team output.

PPE:

Comfort working in smelly conditions where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—such as earplugs, safety glasses, shoe covers, smocks & gloves—is mandatory. Key Responsibilities & Capabilities Production Lead

Daily Workflow Execution:

Direct daily shop activities based on the production schedule, assign tasks to team members, and adjust assignments on the fly to prevent bottlenecks or missed orders.

Schedule Adherence:

Keep purchase orders moving through production to meet target ship dates.

Team Communication:

Act as the primary link between floor staff and management, reporting progress, daily outputs, and immediate needs. Inventory Control

Stock Monitoring:

Maintain manual real-time tracking of raw materials, consumable supplies, and finished goods to prevent stockouts. Also communicating returns to management in a timely manner to ensure no wasted material.

Receiving & Verification:

Inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders for accuracy, quantity, and damage before checking them into inventory.

Usage Logging:

Ensure raw materials allocated to specific jobs are accurately logged to maintain accurate stock counts.

Organization & Staging:

Keep raw storage, staging areas, and finished goods organized and clearly labeled for efficient access. Quality Control (QC)

In-Process Inspections:

Conduct routine checks during production runs to catch defects early and minimize scrap/reworks.

Final Verification:

Inspect finished products against job specifications, measurements, and quality standards before staging for shipping.

Standard Enforcement:

Ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.

Defect Tracking:

Document recurring quality issues or material flaws to help management improve processes. Excel & Computer Proficiency

Data Entry & Inventory Logging:

Update inventory levels, production logs, and job statuses using Microsoft Excel or internal ERP/inventory software (Sortly & Katana)

Spreadsheet Navigation:

Work with existing Excel templates, enter formulas (e.g., standard math, filter data, and track metrics.

Digital Communication:

Comfortable using email, digital work orders, and basic file management software.

Pay:

$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
