2nd Shift CNC Shop Supervisor Responsibilities and Required Qualifications
Responsibilities include hands-on supervision of facility that includes but not limited to QC lab personnel, CNC shop personnel, CNC machines, and ensuring that CNC machine shop production schedules are met during the 2nd shift
This is a working supervisor role and supervisor will be expected to assist/run CNC equipment when needed.
Reports to management on a daily basis on all production/ personnel issues and provides a plan to achieve production schedule and mitigate risk.
Supports team environment and resolves issues with supervised employees
Has minimum of 5-7 years machining experience setting up CNC mills
Has fluent understanding of G and M code functions and Fanuc controls and can edit or program on the shop floor as required
Ability to quickly trouble-shoot and repair CNC machining errors and CNC mechanical alarms
Has 2-3 years of previous experience supervising and training CNC machine shop personnel
Has 2-3 years of previous experience in a production lead role; ie having had direct hands on responsibility for coordinating and meeting production schedules in a CNC machine shop
Ensures parts are inspected and verified to print requirements prior to sign-off, using standard quality lab equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, surface plates).
Familiarity with CMM operation and/or the ability to coordinate quality lab/inspection personnel for in-process inspections.
Understands GD&T(Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and can interpret blueprint tolerances to ensure that parts conform to specifications. Familiarity with AS9100 quality system requirements, including documentation, non-conformance reporting, and corrective action processes. Ensures proper completion of inspections records, first article inspection reports(AS9102), and other quality documentation required for aerospace/defense customer traceability. Coordinates with Quality Department on hold/disposition of non-conforming material and drives root/cause corrective action at the machine level. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment on 2nd shift, including enforcing proper PPE use, machine guarding, and safe material handling practices. Ensures shift personnel follow established safety procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols: report and addresses safety hazards or incidents promptly. Conducts or coordinates safety-related training for shift personnel and promotes a culture of safety awareness on the floor.
