Job Summary The Extrusion Operations Supervisor is responsible for the personnel, technical oversight, process control, and overall performance of the extrusion operations. This role ensures process stability, product quality, safety compliance, and efficient material flow through the establishment and maintenance of standard operating settings (SOS), recipes, change controls, and defect prevention methods. The extrusion supervisor serves as a key resource for production, maintenance, engineering, and production control, providing hands-on troubleshooting, training verification, trial and new product launch support, and after-hours technical assistance as needed. This position also supports, documentation accuracy, equipment performance monitoring, and reinforcement of safety and PPE compliance to maintain efficient and continuous operations Responsibilities
Create, verify, and maintain Standard Operating Settings (SOS) for the extrusion operation.
Ensure correct recipes are set and maintained.
Control and document all process change points as they occur.
Verify extruder output across all extruders.
Verify quality of extruded materials.
Monitor extrusion output ratios to ensure proper performance.
Establish and maintain SOS, set values, and operating procedures.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving process, equipment, or quality issues as they are identified.
Monitor overall equipment performance and process stability.
Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to identify, address, and resolve recurring or complex issues.
Verify that all associates in the extrusion department are properly trained for their assigned tasks.
Ensure all change logs and process documentation are accurate and up to date.
Establish and reinforce defect identification methods and defect prevention practices.
Provide direct support during trials, testing, and new product launches.
Be available after hours to provide technical support, including returning to the facility when necessary.
Work with Production Control and Production Management to ensure production schedules are optimized for efficiency.
Ensure all equipment safety devices are in place and functioning properly; notify Maintenance immediately when issues are identified.
Ensure associates understand and follow safety rules and proper PPE usage; address unsafe practices and notify Production Management as needed.
Supervises all extrusion personnel across all shifts.
Responsible for identifying strengths and weaknesses of all associates.
Develops and implements necessary training to improve deficient areas as they are identified.
Responsible for developing cross training plan for department associates to ensure efficiency within the department.
Requirements:
Must possess extensive knowledge in extrusion operation/processes, including set-up and operation (5 years minimum).
An engineering degree is preferred for this position (will consider experience with a stable employment history).
Must possess thorough understanding of plastics and their processing requirements as it relates to extrusion.
Must be willing to work a modified shift when required.
Tis position requires hands on in the daily operation(s).

While performing this job, the employee will stand/walk almost exclusively during shift (except meal/breaks); required to use manual dexterity (hands/fingers) and hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and place/cut/guide/assemble materials and parts; read words and numbers; frequently required to stoop/bend and use upper extremities to exert moderate pulling/pushing force both laterally and up/down; on occasion lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, normal color and peripheral as well as depth perception. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times in the production area where temperature extremes may often be encountered.

Work duties will be required in a non-climate-controlled production area with temperature extremes, varying light levels, moderate to loud noise levels and exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, powered industrial trucks, wet/humid conditions, dust/odors, equipment-generated heat and vibration and minor risk of electric shock; work may rarely be required in outdoor area with all weather conditions possible.
