The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily glass fabrication operations, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. This position supervises production employees involved in cutting, edging, tempering, insulating, laminating, and other glass processing activities. The supervisor provides leadership, training, and support to employees while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Roles open on both shifts, see typical hours below. Starting rate for reference only; pay may be adjusted for experience and current market conditions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production Management Supervise daily glass fabrication operations to ensure production targets are achieved. Coordinate workflow and staffing to meet customer delivery requirements. Monitor equipment utilization and production efficiency. Review and prioritize work orders based on production schedules and customer deadlines. Ensure proper material handling and inventory control procedures are followed. Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions. Quality Assurance Ensure all fabricated glass products meet company and customer quality specifications. Conduct routine inspections and audits of production processes. Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective and preventive actions. Maintain quality records and documentation as required. Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Employee Supervision Lead, coach, and develop production team members. Conduct employee training and cross-training programs. Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback. Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and disciplinary actions. Foster teamwork, employee engagement, and accountability. Safety and Compliance Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings and workplace inspections. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Equipment and Maintenance Monitor fabrication equipment performance and operational efficiency. Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with maintenance personnel. Report equipment malfunctions and ensure timely repairs. Promote proper equipment operation and care among employees. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety, quality, and cost control. Participate in lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. Analyze production data and implement efficiency improvements. Support operational excellence goals and manufacturing best practices.
Qualifications:
Education High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in manufacturing, glass technology, or elated field preferred. Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. Experience 3-5 years of manufacturing experience required. 2-3 years of supervisory experience preferred. Preferred experience in glass fabrication, tempering, insulating glass, laminating, or related manufacturing environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and employee development skills. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and quality assurance staff to resolve and ensure efficiency of service in production best practices. Preferred knowledge of glass fabrication processes and equipment. Understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing standards. Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and OSHA requirements. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to read production schedules, specifications, and technical drawings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems or ERP systems. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and glass materials. Ability to wear required PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear when applicable. Working Conditions Manufacturing and production facility environment. May require overtime, weekend work, or shift flexibility to support production demands. Regular exposure to fabrication machinery and industrial equipment. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Production efficiency and throughput. On-time delivery performance. Communicate with management officials through open lines of communication to include both written and verbal. Product quality and scrap reduction. Safety performance and incident rates. Employee productivity and attendance. Training and workforce development metrics. Continuous improvement project results. Must possess the ability to monitor and submit purchase requisitions for inventory control and product usage.
FLSA Status:
Exempt/Non-Exempt (as applicable) Supervisor's hours will be assigned by the Production Manager and adjusted as needed to meet production needs. Example of hours are. 1st shift: 6:30 am
4:30 pm, Tuesday
Friday, with occasional overtime as needed. 2nd shift: 4:30 pm
2:30 am, Tuesday
Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct supervision of fabrication operators, machine operators, and production associates.
Coaching / Counseling employees when needed to address performance issues.
Apply discipline consistently when required.
Enforce company policy and applicable employment laws.
