Job Description
What to Expect Tesla is seeking an experienced Tester & Wire Harness Technician Supervisor to lead a team of technicians in the production assembly of high-reliability wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies. This role requires strong leadership combined with hands-on technical expertise in interconnect systems, connectors, production soldering, schematic interpretation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance to ensure the team delivers assemblies that meet engineering, reliability, and production standards. What You'll Do Display a positive attitude and practice a strong work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla Supervise, coach, train, and develop a team of Wire Harness Technicians, including performance management, scheduling, and ensuring adherence to production goals, quality, safety, and ESD standards Oversee the assembly, inspection, and processing of wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies according to drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions in a production environment Direct and ensure high-quality execution of wire cutting, stripping, crimping, tinning, soldering, and connector/terminal terminations, including pin-out verification Interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD models; guide the team in accurate setup, wiring, and issue diagnosis Lead electrical troubleshooting of harnesses, wiring defects, connectors, and assemblies using diagnostic tools, visual inspection, continuity/hi-pot testing, and schematics; document production issues and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to drive root-cause resolution and continuous improvement Monitor daily production output, quality metrics, and resource needs; maintain soldering stations, crimpers, wire processors, and other production equipment, while supporting additional manufacturing or team tasks as business needs evolve What You'll Bring Several years of proven hands-on experience assembling discrete wire harnesses, interconnects, and connectors in a production setting, including soldering of wires, terminals, and related components; prior experience in automotive, aerospace, or high-volume electronics manufacturing environments is strongly preferred Prior experience leading, supervising, or mentoring technicians or production teams in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to drive performance, accountability, and team development Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings, with the ability to train others and utilize basic CAD viewing or manufacturing execution tools Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for wiring, connector, and harness issues, plus the ability to support and develop the team in these areas Knowledge of or certification in
IPC J-STD
standards (e.g., IPC-J-STD-001 for soldering) and/or
IPC/WHMA-A-620
