ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced Production Manager to own our shop floor at DMI-Texas in Brownsville — from traveler release through on-time shipment of conforming product. You'll drive floor flow, scheduling and dispatch, machine maintenance, safety/OSHA compliance, quality conformance, ERP accuracy, and team development, working closely with our Pre-Production Manager and VP of Sales to keep every job moving and every shift accountable.
SCHEDULE & LOCATION
This is a full-time, on-site leadership position based at our Brownsville, TX facility (DMI-Texas, LLC), overseeing multi-shift production operations, including our 2nd Shift Supervisor and their team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Strong sheet metal fabrication and/or CNC machining background; fluent reading of complex blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and technical documents. Deep understanding of fiber lasers, press brakes, welding, CNC lathes and mills, and maintenance/reliability programs. Proven multi-shift floor supervision, floor scheduling and dispatch, and Lean/operational-excellence experience in a fast-paced job shop. In-process and final inspection practices and disciplined ERP/MRP transactional use. Working knowledge of OSHA compliance and shop-floor safety programs. Demonstrated success leading a shop-floor team in a sheet metal or machining environment. Preferred Aerospace or AS9100 quality-system experience. High school diploma or equivalent
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Shop-Floor Operations & Flow:
Oversee daily shop-floor activity and manage flow to maximize throughput and on-time shipment, moving jobs through fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly while minimizing bottlenecks.
Floor Scheduling & Dispatch:
Execute detailed floor scheduling, sequencing, and dispatch against the schedule released by Pre-Production. Communicate floor changes (machine status, rework, capacity shifts) back to Pre-Production promptly so the dynamic schedule reflects reality.
Quality Conformance & Inspection:
Own in-process and final inspection on the floor; QC/inspection reports to this role. Ensure parts conform to control plans and quality protocols established by Pre-Production. Lead containment, first-article support, and corrective action on nonconformances.
Machine Maintenance & Safety/OSHA:
Direct maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Enforce all safety policies and OSHA compliance. Support pre-production tryout equipment when needed.
Shop-Floor Processes & Lean:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard work across fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly. Drive Lean principles and operational excellence on the floor. Materials on the
Floor & ERP Accuracy:
Own physical receiving, staging, and WIP movement. Enforce strict ERP use for job tracking, labor reporting, and material transactions across all shifts.
Employee Development & Leadership:
Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate all direct reports including leads and the 2nd Shift Supervisor. Build a high-performance, accountable, multi-shift culture and strong collaboration between shifts and departments.
Performance Metrics:
Own the production section of the Weekly Performance Report / EOS Scorecard.
Primary metrics:
on-time ship %, percent rework and rework cost, dollars shipped per hour paid, machine uptime, and safety.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
First 90 Days You understand DMI's floor processes, ERP systems, and the dynamic scheduling handoff with Pre-Production, and you're running daily floor operations with growing independence. By Six Months You're moving on-time ship %, rework, and machine uptime in the right direction, and your multi-shift team — including the 2nd Shift Supervisor — is operating with clear accountability. By End of Year One You're a trusted operational leader whose floor consistently ships on time, and your production metrics are a strength on DMI's EOS Scorecard.

Pay is based on your production leadership experience and technical depth in sheet metal fabrication and machining.

$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
