Job Title:
Project Foreman Position Overview The Project Foreman leads a crew of skilled and general laborers in the day-to-day execution of construction work on-site. Working under the direction of the Superintendent (and coordinating with the Assistant Superintendent), the Foreman is responsible for assigning tasks, directing craft activities, ensuring quality workmanship, enforcing safety on the ground, and keeping the day's work on schedule. This role is hands-on — the Foreman works alongside the crew while also providing direction, training, and quality oversight. Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Crew Leadership — Directly supervise and lead a crew of 3-15 craft workers. Assign daily tasks, set expectations, and monitor productivity and quality throughout the day. Hands-On Execution — Work alongside the crew performing construction tasks (carpentry, concrete, framing, finishing, etc.) as needed while maintaining supervisory oversight. Daily Planning — Review the day's scope with the Superintendent each morning. Plan crew assignments, material needs, and equipment requirements to ensure a productive day. Quality Control — Inspect work as it is completed to ensure it meets project plans, specifications, and company quality standards. Correct deficiencies immediately. Safety Compliance — Enforce site safety rules on the ground. Conduct daily safety huddles (toolbox talks), ensure crew members wear proper PPE, and stop any unsafe practice immediately. Report incidents to the Superintendent. Material & Equipment Management — Coordinate material deliveries for the day's work. Keep tools and equipment organized, maintained, and accounted for. Minimize waste and theft. Progress Reporting — Communicate daily progress, delays, material shortages, and crew issues to the Superintendent. Provide input for daily reports and timecards. Training & Development — Mentor crew members on proper techniques, safety practices, and trade skills. Customer Interaction — Maintain a professional, courteous presence on site when interacting with property managers, inspectors, or owners as needed. Problem-Solving — Resolve day-to-day field issues — crew conflicts, equipment problems, fit issues — and escalate only what requires the Superintendent's decision. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required 5+ years of hands-on construction experience , with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools Ability to read plans and understand scope of work Proven ability to direct and motivate a crew Strong verbal communication skills Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods Basic proficiency with smartphone/tablet for daily reporting and photo documentation Preferred Qualifications Bilingual English/Spanish Trade-specific certifications (e.g., carpenter, concrete, operator) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification First Aid / CPR certified Work Conditions 100% field-based on active construction sites exposed to weather, dust, noise, and heavy equipment Overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines
