Manufacturing M anager Part I•Position Purpose Responsible for, training and supervision of mold department operations on 1st shift. Be accountable for departmental costs, and quantity of production, along with effective use of labor hours, skills and equipment. The position is empowered to act with guidance from management, within established policy and pr ocedures. Part II•Job Functions Exercise direct supervision over assigned molding personnel with respect to production volume, costs, quality and meeting delivery dates Be on the floor in the department during every available minute for the purpose of exercising first hand direction and control of the operations and the activities of the workers Promote efficiency and productivity of production workers Perform performance appraisals for production workers Maintain company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices Train hourly staff on proper process discipline Work closely with department heads with the attempt to cut costs and minimize pattern shop delays. Keep tooling in good repair. Assist management in general foundry problems, whether it be quality problems or capital expenditures for the department Assist with departmental inventories Recognize and recommend areas that can be improved, i.e. updating procedures, re-staffing with quality personnel, etc. Adhere to company ISO documentation requirements or work with quality to update to current condition Part III•Qualifications & Experience Education High school diploma required associated degree or better preferred 3-5 years of foundry supervision Experience with no bake molding or shell molding Experience with casting defects and root cause analysis Part IV•Leadership & Management Behaviors Results orientated team leader and motivator who leads by example and coaches the team. Strong supervisory, analytical and organizational skills Strong leadership skills able to promote and affect change as required. Strong mentoring abilities to accelerate managerial development and succession Strategic thinker who can establish a successful plan and execute the plan to achieve top and bottom line business growth. Excellent communication skills enabling effective dialog with employees at all levels. Ability and willingness to be hands-on as circumstances require
