Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate works in an indoor manufacturing environment, supporting hose and pipe production through hands-on tasks such as coiling, wrapping, labeling, stacking, and material movement. You will collaborate closely with another team member or a small team, operate production machinery, and use a sit-down forklift to move finished product to designated staging areas. On-the-job training is provided for all aspects of the role, and this position offers a clear path to grow into an extrusion operator in the near future. Responsibilities Work in an indoor production environment to support hose and pipe manufacturing activities. Coil hose, wrap products, apply labels, and stack finished goods on pallets in an organized and secure manner. Use a sit-down forklift to move pallets and finished product to designated staging and storage areas. Operate production and assembly machines as trained to support manufacturing processes. Use basic hand tools such as utility knives, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and caulk guns to perform assembly and production tasks. Use power tools and air tools, including Sawzall, hand drill, impact wrench, nail gun, jig saw, and router, as required for production work. Palletize products and perform manual material handling, including lifting and moving materials and hoses that can range in weight. Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including steel toe shoes. Work effectively with another person or within a small team to meet production goals and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials in a way that supports efficient workflow. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment. Experience using hand tools such as utility knives, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and caulk guns. Experience using power tools and air tools, including Sawzall, hand drill, impact wrench, nail gun, jig saw, and router. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently. Ability to palletize products and perform manual material handling tasks. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a regular basis. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment that can be very warm in summer and cool in winter. Interest in learning and progressing into an extrusion operator role. Additional Skills & Qualifications General production and machine operation experience. Experience working in a team-based manufacturing setting. Willingness to learn new machinery and assembly processes through on-the-job training. Attention to detail when labeling, wrapping, and stacking products. Work Environment This role is based in a production environment within an indoor manufacturing facility that is not climate-controlled. Temperatures can become very warm during the summer and fairly cool in the winter, and you should be comfortable working in these conditions. You will work around production machinery, hand and power tools, and sit-down forklifts, and you will perform regular manual material handling and palletizing. The position follows set shifts, with options including a first shift Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a third shift Monday to Friday from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Steel toe shoes are required, and you should wear clothing that can get dirty due to the nature of the manufacturing work. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Vernon Hills, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.40/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
