Luxury Dressmaker / Couture Sample Maker The Classy Collection Glenarden, MD Job Details Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Sewing Sourcing Blueprint specification interpretation Stitching Attention to detail Achieving project delivery timelines Time management Full Job Description Luxury Dressmaker / Couture Sample Maker We are seeking an experienced Luxury Dressmaker / Couture Sample Maker to join a growing luxury women's fashion brand and assist with the development of an upcoming collection. This is not an entry-level sewing position. We are looking for an experienced professional who already possesses strong garment-construction skills and can create high-quality women's garments from designs, sketches, tech packs, measurements, and reference materials. Our collection includes luxury gowns, cocktail dresses, resort wear, and highly detailed/embellished garments. The ideal candidate understands the level of precision, construction, finishing, and attention to detail expected of premium and luxury womenswear. Position Structure This is a hybrid position with a minimum commitment of 5 days per week dedicated to garment development and dressmaking. Candidates who have their own professional workshop or sewing studio may be permitted to work from their own space. However, travel will occasionally be required for fittings, design meetings, material review, quality-control checks, sample approvals, and other collection-related needs. We are looking for someone interested in becoming a consistent part of the brand's garment-development team, rather than someone seeking occasional one-off projects. Primary Responsibilities Construct luxury women's garments from concept through completed sample Work from tech packs, sketches, measurements, photographs, and design references Create professionally constructed samples suitable for luxury production Sew gowns, cocktail dresses, resort dresses, and other premium womenswear Work with delicate and specialty fabrics, including mesh, tulle, satin, silk and stretch materials Execute professional ruching, draping, lining, structured construction and detailed finishing Work with crystals, rhinestones, beading, appliqués, sequins and other luxury embellishments when required Participate in fittings and make necessary alterations/corrections Maintain extremely high standards for garment finishing and quality Meet agreed-upon development deadlines and communicate proactively regarding progress Produce garments efficiently and quickly without compromising craftsmanship Premium Material Sourcing — Preferred Experience sourcing premium/luxury fabrics, trims, embellishments and garment accessories is highly preferred. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of reputable fabric and trim suppliers and be able to recommend materials based on the intended design, construction, durability, drape and luxury standard. However, material sourcing experience is NOT required. Exceptional dressmakers who specialize primarily in garment construction are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate can complete garments within reasonable, agreed-upon timelines without sacrificing construction quality, fit, finishing, or attention to detail. $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
