American Woods manufactures high-quality residential wood furniture right here in Grand Forks. Our team builds cabinets, tables, bed frames, dressers, bookshelves, and other wood furniture from start to finish. We're currently hiring for Shipping, Milling, and Press , with Shipping as our highest-priority opening. Manufacturing experience is helpful, but it isn't required. We'll provide the training. Priority Opening Our Shipping team is the final stop before completed furniture leaves our facility.
Every piece needs to be properly protected for the trip to the customer. Shipping team members foam, cardboard, and shrink-wrap finished furniture, make sure shipping labels are applied correctly, and move completed pieces by dolly from the Shipping area into the truck.
This role requires:
Foaming, cardboarding, and shrink-wrapping finished furniture Moving furniture using dollies and other material-handling equipment Loading completed furniture into trucks Organizing loads safely and efficiently Applying and verifying shipping labels Paying close attention to the quality and security of packaging Working closely with the Shipping team to keep orders moving on schedule Shipping is one of our more physically demanding positions. You'll spend your day on your feet, moving, wrapping, maneuvering, and loading furniture. Good spatial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team are important. Milling Milling is where raw wood components begin taking shape. You'll learn to operate production machinery and equipment used to prepare parts for furniture production.
Team members:
Load, unload, and move wood components Operate production machinery and equipment Inspect parts for quality and accuracy Keep materials moving through the production process Learn additional machines and equipment as their skills develop This is also an active position involving time on your feet, regular handling of wood components, and working at a steady production pace. Builder Our Press Builders assemble wood components that will eventually become finished pieces of furniture.
Team members:
Build and assemble furniture components Work with hand tools, equipment, glue, and other materials Position and handle wood parts throughout the building process Inspect their work for quality and accuracy Follow established build instructions and processes Keep parts moving to the next stage of production This is hands-on work requiring good dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to stay physically active throughout the shift. What We're Looking For You don't need previous furniture or manufacturing experience to be successful here. We've trained people coming from warehouses, construction, landscaping, restaurants, retail, general labor, and completely different industries. What matters most is that you: Show up reliably and on time Are comfortable with physically active work Can spend the workday on your feet, moving and handling materials or products Are willing to learn new equipment and processes Pay attention to quality and details Work safely and productively Take pride in doing your job well and contributing to your team We'll teach you the skills. You bring the reliability, effort, and willingness to learn. Pay & Schedule Starting pay is $18
20/hour , depending on the position and relevant experience.
Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM start End times vary based on production needs and are currently approximately 2:30 PM-3:30 PM. No rotating shifts.
