Job Overview The Nester is responsible for preparing and optimizing material nests for laser and plasma cutting operations using ProNest 2025 and TruBoost software. This role works closely with Engineering, Design, Production, and Scheduling to maximize material utilization, improve machine efficiency, and ensure accurate production output. The Nester will manage CAD files, generate DXF files when necessary, and utilize Autodesk Vault and Autodesk Inventor to retrieve and create manufacturing-ready cutting files. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create efficient nests for laser and plasma cutting equipment using ProNest 2025 and TruBoost software. Analyze production requirements and prioritize nest creation based on manufacturing schedules. Optimize material usage to minimize scrap and improve production efficiency. Review drawings and manufacturing documentation to ensure accurate part representation and nesting. Retrieve engineering files from Autodesk Vault . Generate DXF files from Autodesk Inventor models and drawings when DXFs are not readily available. Maintain organized file structures and revision control in accordance with company standards. Verify part quantities, material specifications, and cutting requirements before releasing nests to production. Collaborate with Engineering and Design to resolve drawing discrepancies, missing information, or manufacturability concerns. Monitor machine workload and adjust nesting strategies to meet production demands. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to nesting efficiency, material utilization, and production throughput. Maintain documentation and records of nests, material usage, and production metrics. Assist operators and production personnel with questions related to nested programs and cutting files. Follow all company safety policies and quality standards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, CAD/CAM programming, nesting, or related fields preferred. Experience using ProNest , TruBoost , or similar nesting software. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault . Ability to create and modify DXF files from 3D models and engineering drawings. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and cutting processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting laser and plasma cutting operations in a fabrication environment. Understanding of material utilization strategies and manufacturing efficiency principles. Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication workflows. Experience with ERP/MRP systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Understanding of manufacturing tolerances and fabrication requirements. Effective communication skills with Engineering, Design, Production, and Quality teams. Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
