We have a proud tradition of providing superior rail, truck, barge, and warehouse facilities in the Port of Pittsburgh and central PA regions. Our Freeport Terminal (FTI) is a full-service intermodal facility featuring barge, rail, and truck offload and reload capabilities located in Freeport, Pennsylvania on the Allegheny River. This all-product facility offers specialization in both liquid and dry bulk handling, storage, and processing. FTI sits on 35-acres with significant bulk commodity storage as well as under-roof warehousing. We also have eight million gallons in liquid bulk storage available for truck to tank, to barge transfers and vice versa. Job Description Freeport Terminals, Inc. is seeking dependable, safety-minded individuals to join our team as Scrap Yard Equipment Operator. Responsibilities include safely operating equipment to load, unload, move, sort, store, and process scrap and other industrial materials throughout the terminal. Duties also include material handling and supporting daily operations involving barges, railcars, trucks, warehouses, and outdoor storage areas. Heavy equipment experience is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated candidates with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety. This is an outdoor, year-round position requiring reliable transportation, punctuality, and a willingness to help wherever needed. Advancement opportunities are available for employees who demonstrate reliability and initiative. Responsibilities Safely load, unload, move, store, and process scrap metal. Operate front loaders, steel crusher/shredder machine, forklifts, yard trucks, and other equipment as assigned. Aid in loading and offloading material to and from barges, railcars, trucks, etc. Read work orders, bills of lading, shipping documents to ensure accurate material handling and processing. Perform daily equipment inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. Follow all company policies, operating procedures, and safety requirements. Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Assist with other terminal operations and duties as needed. Qualifications Recent work history with reliable transportation. Experience operating equipment. Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, etc.. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to safety, reliability, and teamwork. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment. Willingness to learn, take direction, and perform a variety of tasks as business needs require.
