The Paint Value Stream Specialist is responsible for taking ownership of the coatings value stream in the Finishing Department. Key areas of responsibility include color matching, paint mixing/tinting, controlling base component inventory levels, providing setups for the finishers, spray gun maintenance, and managing the stock color inventory program. A dedication to performing work safely and producing a quality product is the key to this role. This role reports to the Director of Manufacturing Services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate paint tinting, dispensing, mixing, and shaking equipment.
Review work orders, color formulas, and specifications to ensure accurate product.
Select, measure, and dispense pigments, colorants, additives, and base materials using computerized tinting systems or approved manual procedures.
Verify color accuracy through approved quality checks before releasing product.
Maintain accurate production records, including formula information, batch details, material usage, quality checks, and any deviations or corrective actions.
Clean and maintain tinting machines, work surfaces, containers, tools, spray guns and surrounding areas to prevent contamination and ensure safe operation.
Monitor inventory levels of base paints, pigments, colorants, containers, labels, and related supplies; notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
Identify equipment issues, formula discrepancies, quality concerns, or unsafe conditions and report them promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, SDS procedures, and 5S standards.
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
Ability to lift and handle paint containers, pails, boxes, and related materials.
Other duties and tasks as assigned. Qualifications
Ability to follow written formulas, work orders, safety instructions, and SOPs.
Ability to distinguish colors and recognize different shades, tones, and consistency.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use tinting software, order systems, or production tracking tools.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and commitment to quality.
Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
Ability to perform routine equipment cleaning, setup, and troubleshooting.
