• Full-time Job Overview We are a leading HVAC mechanical contracting and custom manufacturing firm executing high-consequence projects across industrial and nuclear sectors.

We are seeking an highly motivated, detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control (QC) Inspector. This is a permanent inspection position with potential for growth within the SSM Power Division, which focuses on the nuclear power and governments services. SSM is a leading supplier and contractor to these industries. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections, verifying compliance, and maintaining meticulous documentation for nuclear-safety-related and high-integrity industrial mechanical systems (including specialized air movement, custom fabrication, and structural components). The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for detail, a strong background in mechanical codes, and an uncompromising commitment to nuclear safety culture. Key Responsibilities

Inspections & Verifications:

Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections on parts, raw material, hardware, mechanical equipment, custom fabrications, weldments, ductwork, dampers, piping assemblies, etc. to ensure strict compliance with design drawings, specifications, and NQA-1 procedures.

Documentation & Records Management:

Generate, review, and compile comprehensive Quality Assurance Record packages, including Lifetime QA Records, Material Test Reports (MTRs), and Certificates of Conformance (CoC). Perform monthly and annual program reviews of document control, welding, storage and handling, design control, non-conformance control, audits, surveys, training,

Welding & Leak Testing Oversight:

Verify welding operations conform to ASME Section IX and AWS specifications. Witness and oversee system and component testing. Coordinate and review Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) reports (PT, MT, UT, RT).

Non-Conformance Management:

Identify, document, and track non-conformances (NCRs). Actively participate in root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Audits & Material Control:

Support internal and external NQA-1 audits. Ensure strict material traceability and segregation of non-conforming items from receiving through final installation.

Technical Compliance:

Interpret engineering drawings, qualifications, customer specifications, code compliance, weld maps, and technical specifications (e.g., ASME AG-1 for air/gas processing where applicable). Review design documents, (e.g. drawings, procedures, qualifications) to ensure quality and customer requirements are met. Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of QC inspection experience within a mechanical contracting, industrial construction, or custom manufacturing environment operating under a documented quality program.

Certifications:

Ability to be certified (or currently certified) as an NQA-1 Level II Inspector in the Mechanical/Welding discipline.

Code Familiarity:

Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.3 and

D9.2ASME

Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (specifically Sections II, VIII, and IX) and

B31.1/B31.3

piping codes

Blueprint Reading :

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and weld symbols.

Communication:

The ability to interface professionally and collaboratively with engineering teams, clients, shop personnel and regulatory auditors.

• Current or prior AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
• Familiarity with or the willingness to learn about industrial air movement/HVAC standards (such as SMACNA or

ASME AG-1

code requirements).

• ASNT Level II certifications in Visual (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), or Magnetic Particle (MT) testing.
• All Level II inspector candidates who have been involved with code intensive inspection work are encouraged to apply.

• Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Must be able to navigate active fabrication shop floors and mechanical construction jobsites safely.
