Position Description The Quality Control (QC) Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of product quality assurance and compliance in the production of glue laminated timber (glulam) and cross laminated timber (CLT). This role ensures that all products meet applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The QC Manager will develop, implement, and maintain robust quality control systems to support continuous improvement and operational excellence. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems aligned with ANSI standards for structural engineered wood products. Supervise daily quality inspections of raw materials, adhesives, pressing, machining, finishing, and final product testing. Manage quality control technicians and provide training on inspection, testing, and documentation procedures. Ensure compliance with certification requirements (ANSI
PRG-320, ANSI A190.1, ANSI
117, ISO, etc...) and coordinate audits with external agencies. Monitor and analyze quality metrics, identify trends, and lead root cause analysis for nonconformities. Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure consistent product quality and process efficiency. Maintain calibration of testing equipment and ensure accurate test data collection and reporting. Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives to address quality concerns. Manage customer quality complaints, investigations, and resolutions. Drive continuous improvement in product consistency, waste reduction, and defect prevention. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Wood Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. Experience in quality management within engineered wood products, mass timber, or similar manufacturing. Strong knowledge of glulam and CLT manufacturing processes, adhesives, and structural performance standards. Familiarity with certification and testing protocols (e.g., ANSI
PRG-320, ANSI A190.1, ANSI
117, ISO, etc…). Proven leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach and develop a QC team. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in quality tools such as SPC, Lean, Six Sigma, or
ISO 9001 QMS.
Salary & Benefits The salary for this position is $85,000 - $140,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
