Position Summary The Quality Inspector - Aerospace & Fabrication is responsible for verifying that fabricated and machined products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements. This position performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections; documents results; identifies nonconforming conditions; and supports M&J Fabrication's AS9100 Quality Management System. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated and machined parts and assemblies. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, weld symbols, purchase orders, and manufacturing documentation. Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, identification, configuration, and compliance with applicable requirements. Use precision inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, indicators, pin gauges, thread gauges, and scales. Complete dimensional inspection reports, first-article documentation, and other required quality records. Assist with AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, including ballooned drawings and characteristic accountability. Verify that manufacturing travelers, material certifications, special-process certifications, and inspection records are complete and accurate. Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming material or products. Initiate nonconformance reports and clearly communicate discrepancies to the Quality Manager, Engineering, and Production. Perform visual workmanship inspections of fabricated assemblies. Weld acceptance requiring CWI authority will be referred to the Certified Welding Inspector. Verify that inspection equipment is within its calibration period and properly maintained. Support customer inspections, quality audits, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action activities. Follow all company safety rules, quality procedures, and customer-specific requirements. Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in quality inspection, precision manufacturing, machining, metal fabrication, or a related technical field. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation. Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection methods. Proficiency with common precision measurement equipment. Basic shop math skills, including decimals, fractions, and measurement conversions. Strong attention to detail, documentation, organization, and communication skills. Basic computer skills and the ability to work with electronic quality records. Ability to work independently and manage changing inspection priorities. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Machining, or a related field. Two or more years of inspection experience in an aerospace, defense, machining, or fabrication environment. Experience working within an AS9100-certified Quality Management System. Experience preparing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports. Experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) or other automated inspection equipment. Formal GD&T training or certification. Familiarity with nonconformance, corrective-action, and calibration-control processes. Professional and Physical Requirements Ability to make objective inspection decisions based on documented requirements. Ability to communicate quality concerns professionally to management, Engineering, and Production. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and inspect products throughout a manufacturing facility. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and access different areas of fabricated assemblies. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate. Sufficient visual acuity, with corrective lenses if needed, to perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all company safety requirements. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on production schedules and customer needs.

Pay:

$24.00 - $30.00 per hour
