3-5 years of Quality Experience required Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. The salary range for this position is $25hr to $30hr Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a 2nd Shift, Quality Tech III, Inspection for our City of Industry, California location. Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge of basic shop math
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Able to lift/move up to 30 pounds regularly
Able to follow and carryout instructions
Must be detailed oriented
Able to gather, analyze and evaluate data in order to make decisions in accordance to company policies and objectives
Must be able to pass vision test and meet all visual inspector requirements per internal procedure
Demonstrates proficient use of precision inspection tools and equipment per internal procedures, manufacturing drawings, and applicable specs/procedures/instructions
Demonstrates proficient interpretation of work instructions, routers, blueprints, drawings, and specifications including product line inspection standards
Ability to prepare inspection documentation, gather data, write routine reports and correspondence as required
Performs full inspections of manufactured products, including AS9102-compliant 1st Article inspection using appropriate drawings or specifications.
Ensures acceptance of product specifications and requirements independently, utilizing good judgment and prioritization
Reviews material and process certifications against purchase order, specifications and requirements
Able to train Quality Tech I-III as required
Able and willing to cross-train in other Quality activities as required (e.g. destructive / non-destructive testing, gauge room, etc.)
Coordinates customer source inspection and/or performs Designated Source Quality Representative functions for various customers, where applicable.
DQR for PW, GE, is a plus
Familiar with major customer supplier portals including GE Aviation and Raytheon Technologies
Understanding of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reports. ECAV reports and submissions.
Able to inspect samples under black light to detect defects such as discontinuity of seams, thread laps, non-metallic and metallic (NDT) inclusions, piping, grinding checks, cracks, etc. (NDT) preferred
Ability to verity fluorescent penetrant equipment and materials are in proper condition and meet established standards (NDT) as plus
Proven demonstration of performing calibration preferred
Understanding of non-conformance process with ability to write internal rejections for Quality Manufacturing and Vendors
Active involvement in MRB process, including evaluation of MRB disposition for accuracy and acceptability
Demonstration of problem-solving techniques and ideas
Familiarity with export compliance requirements including DFAR and ITAR
Excellent communication skills to internal/external stakeholders and departments, including communicating critical decision making to management as related to Quality Assurance and Inspection requirements and impact
Prioritizes job assignments within quality inspection area.
Able to be back-up to lead on daily communication meetings
Participate in lean initiatives, 5S activities, and problem-solving efforts
