Responsibilities include the assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototype products and components, as well as supporting engineering validation activities. This role may also provide qualified assistance with field and site testing as required. Accountabilities & Expected Outcomes Prototype Development & Electronics Assembly Assemble prototype products, electronic subassemblies, wiring harnesses, PCBs, and test fixtures from engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Conduct functional, electrical, and mechanical testing, including documentation and basic analysis of results. Support engineering validation, qualification testing, and field trials where engineering presence is not required. Troubleshoot prototype and test equipment failures using electrical test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data acquisition systems. Maintain accurate build records, test data, troubleshooting logs, and configuration documentation. Develop clear, accurate work instructions and assembly procedures based on initial prototype builds and first-article assembly activities. Supports software release verification by developing, maintaining, and executing testing support packages to ensure product quality and readiness for deployment Perform component-level diagnostics and root cause analysis to identify defective electronic components, assembly issues, wiring faults, and design-related problems. Timely manufacture, assembly, and modification of prototype hardware and test fixtures. Rapid turnaround of prototype builds, reworked assemblies, and vendor-supplied parts. Effective execution of test plans with accurate documentation and reporting of results. Identification and resolution of electrical and mechanical assembly issues through structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis. QA / QC Assist the internal Quality Department in the qualification of newly received components from vendors. Timely provision of IQC support primarily to engineering and quality groups, but could support manufacturing Leadership and People Regularly challenges peers or superiors when the situation arises. Qualifications, Skills & ExperienceEssential Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands on experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems, prototypes, or industrial products.
Ability to read and interpret:
Wiring diagrams Mechanical drawings Assembly documentation Proficiency with standard electronic test equipment including: Multimeters Oscilloscopes DC power supplies Function generators Data acquisition systems Strong soldering and rework skills for through hole and surface mount electronic assemblies. Experience performing functional, electrical, and environmental testing and documenting test results. Ability to develop clear work instructions, test procedures, and assembly documentation. Technical problem solving and root cause analysis skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience using Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting. Ability to work independently with limited supervision while supporting multiple engineering disciplines. Desirable Associate degree, diploma, trade qualification, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical field. Experience supporting product development, R D, or prototype development programs. Experience with downhole, industrial, mining, instrumentation, or embedded electronic products. Familiarity with firmware and software release verification processes. Experience developing and maintaining automated or semi-automated test systems. Basic understanding of embedded systems including: Microcontrollers Sensors Communications interfaces Data logging systems Familiarity with quality systems, configuration management, and engineering change processes. Experience with environmental, reliability, or qualification testing. Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Altium, KiCad, or equivalent systems. Experience assembling wiring harnesses, PCB assemblies, and electromechanical systems. Experience working with laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance. Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar. Previous field support or field trial experience. Forklift, first aid, or relevant safety certifications.
