Job Description

Quality Assurance Technician-(CMM)

•2nd Shift

•The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), performing gauge calibrations, conducting inspections and testing activities, and supporting production quality requirements. This role works closely with Engineering and Production teams to support new product launches, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with customer and organizational requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program, operate, and maintain CMM equipment to perform dimensional inspections.

Perform gauge calibration activities and support gauge R&R studies.

Conduct inspections and testing of products, materials, and components throughout production and receiving processes.

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, schematic diagrams, and GD&T requirements.

Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support new product launches and process improvements.

Select samples and perform dimensional, mechanical, electrical, chemical, destructive, and non-destructive testing as required.

Record inspection and test results using statistical quality control methods and SPC techniques.

Analyze data, prepare reports, charts, and graphs, and communicate findings to management and engineering teams.

Investigate quality issues and recommend improvements to quality standards, manufacturing processes, and inspection methods.

Support reverse engineering activities, alignments, datum structures, and solid modeling applications.

Utilize quality software, AutoCAD, and other related measurement and analysis tools.

Ensure compliance with company Human Resources, Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

Promote positive employee relations, teamwork, and a safe work environment.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Department Manager.

Education:

Associate's Degree in a related technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Two (2) to four (4) years of related quality laboratory, inspection, or manufacturing experience.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge and practical application of IATF 16949 and

ISO 14001

standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, fixturing, SPC, and statistical analysis.

Experience with CMM programming and operation.

Familiarity with solid modeling software, AutoCAD, and related engineering applications.

Understanding of calibration systems, measurement equipment, and gauge R&R methodologies.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Proficiency with computer systems and quality reporting tools.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.

Regular exposure to heat, noise, dust, odors, dirt, and fumes.

Frequent standing, walking, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling.

Frequent lifting, lowering, and carrying of up to 50 pounds; assistance is required for items exceeding 50 pounds.

Ability to perform physical tasks associated with manufacturing and inspection activities.
