$22.00 - $28.00 per hour (commensurate with skills, education, and relevant lab experience) Position Overview We are hiring on behalf of one of our clients, a leading North American manufacturer of essential cement, aggregate, and building materials. We are seeking a Quality Control Technician to join the quality assurance team at our Whitehall cement manufacturing facility. This role operates on an alternating week-by-week rotation across three primary functions: chemical laboratory testing, physical laboratory testing, and production shift control. You will perform accurate testing of plant raw materials, feed streams, and finished products to ensure strict adherence to quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Material Analysis:
Analyze raw materials, in-process streams, and finished cement samples to evaluate chemical and physical properties using analytical lab instruments.
Data Recording & Quality Reporting:
Document and review test findings using databases, spreadsheets, and digital communication tools to maintain quality control records.
Operational Collaboration:
Work alongside production and sales personnel to maintain product standards, troubleshoot quality variances, and assist with customer technical inquiries.
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and calibrate physical and chemical laboratory equipment (scales, compression devices, sieve shakers, ovens, aggregate splitters, and decant tools).
Safety & Environmental Standards:
Adhere to plant safety and environmental protocols, actively promoting a culture of workplace safety.
Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
0 - 2 years of quality control or laboratory testing experience.
Technical & Operational Skills:
Basic data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); SAP experience is a plus.
Strong mathematical aptitude and high attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Valid driver's license (position may require operating a plant vehicle).
Physical Demands & Safety Requirements:
Ability to operate lab equipment and handle physical material samples.
PPE & Respiratory Safety:
Candidates must comply with all safety protocols, including proper fit and use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators. Where tight-fitting respirators are required for safety compliance, candidates must achieve a proper seal under regulatory fit-testing standards (OSHA/MSHA).
