Job Description
Job Overview The Materials Technician is responsible for supporting the accurate and efficient flow of materials and products throughout the facility. The position performs shipping, receiving, incoming inspection, and inventory handling activities to ensure materials are properly received, verified, identified, stored, issued, and prepared for shipment. The Materials Technician maintains accurate records and organized material areas while supporting the availability and traceability of materials for daily operations. Responsibilities Shipping Prepare finished product and other materials for shipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
Verify part numbers, quantities, and required documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to shipment. Package and secure product appropriately for domestic and international transportation to ensure protection during transit. Generate packing slips, shipping labels, and other required shipping documentation. Prepare and process shipments through FedEx, DHL, UPS, and other approved carriers. Coordinate carrier pickups and shipment arrangements as required. Maintain accurate and complete shipping records. Receiving Receive and process incoming materials, components, supplies, and other deliveries. Verify received part numbers and quantities against packing slips and applicable receiving documentation. Review accompanying documentation for accuracy, completeness, and applicable requirements. Perform incoming inspection activities as required in accordance with established inspection procedures and acceptance criteria. Identify and promptly report shortages, overages, damage, documentation discrepancies, or quality concerns. Properly identify received materials and store accepted material in designated inventory or storage locations. Maintain accurate and complete receiving & incoming inspection records. Inventory & Material Handling Pull and issue materials from inventory in accordance with pick lists. Verify part numbers and quantities to ensure correct materials are pulled and issued. Return unused or excess materials to their designated inventory locations while maintaining proper identification. Monitor material availability during routine inventory activities, including cycle counts, and report identified shortages or material needs. Ensure materials are properly identified, organized, and maintained in their designated storage locations. Maintain storage areas in a clean, orderly, and organized condition. Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and other inventory verification activities as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in shipping, receiving, inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing environments preferred. Basic computer skills and ability to learn company ERP and shipping systems. Ability to accurately read and follow packing slips, pick lists, work orders, and other documentation. Basic math and counting skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records. Ability to work effectively with employees across different departments. Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials and packages up to 50 lbs.
