Job Description The Quality Technician monitors and maintains the quality of all products produced at the site, working closely with production and leadership teams to support testing and quality needs. This role performs laboratory testing on samples from extruders and molders, evaluates color using a spectrophotometer, and identifies non-conforming products. The technician uses Windows-based computer systems, including Word and Excel, to document test results and maintain accurate records, while learning the full range of product lines and applying both English and metric measurement systems and basic algebra concepts in daily work. Responsibilities Monitor and maintain the quality of all products produced at the facility to ensure they meet established standards and specifications. Work collaboratively with production and leadership teams to address testing requirements, quality concerns, and continuous improvement needs. Run samples from extruders and molders and perform appropriate quality tests in a laboratory setting. Analyze colors using a spectrophotometer and compare results against defined standards to ensure consistency. Recognize and properly identify non-conforming products and follow established procedures for documentation and escalation. Use Windows-based computer systems, including Word and Excel, to enter, track, and report data from online and offline testing. Apply English and metric measurement systems and basic algebra concepts, including percentages and calculations, during testing and data analysis. Learn and maintain a strong understanding of the company's product lines to support accurate testing and evaluation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, ensuring equipment, tools, and work areas remain safe and orderly. Perform quality inspection, quality testing, quality control, and quality assurance tasks as part of daily operations. Support chemistry and wet chemistry testing activities as needed in the lab environment. Conduct quality checks on compounded plastics and resin products and document findings according to quality procedures. Follow established safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, while working in the lab and production areas. Participate in training on first shift and transition to the night shift 2-2-3 schedule upon completion of training. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes, documentation, and product quality. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a compounding and plastics production facility with a workforce of roughly 40-50 people, offering a collaborative and hands-on environment. You will train initially on first shift and then transition to a night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule, working 12-hour shifts that provide a predictable rotating pattern. Work is performed in both laboratory and production areas, using equipment such as spectrophotometers and standard lab tools, along with Windows-based computers and Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation. The facility requires appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear, to support a safe working environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Unity, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
