Welding Quality Control Technician

Job Description

Job Summary STAAR Energy Services and MFG. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania. The responsibilities of this role are to support and train under senior management until the candidate is fully trained. At that point, the candidate will transition into the role of Quality Control Manager. The qualified candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in the inspection of ASME pressure vessels, process piping, structural fabrication, and related industrial fabrication. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience is required. CWI certification is preferred. Responsibilities Review ASME Code calculations and drawings to ensure code compliance Read and review project specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to determine proper procedures and inspection requirements Maintain National Board and serial number records Implement all phases of project examination and inspection Complete and maintain

Data Reports and Partial Data Reports Notify the Authorized Inspector (A.I.) of approaching inspections and required hold points Coordinate customer inspection notifications Perform hydrostatic testing inspections and maintain associated records Maintain ASME Section IX welding qualification records and perform applicable welding inspections Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and supporting documentation Perform inspections in accordance with AWS and ASME requirements when applicable Maintain non-conformance reports and associated corrective-action records Prepare, review, approve, and maintain PWHT instructions and records Maintain inspection equipment calibration records Assist with revisions and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) Maintain and approve repair and alteration records in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) Conduct and report internal audits and quality evaluations Participate in routine visual and dimensional inspections Verify material identification, traceability, and documentation Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) and applicable certifications Coordinate inspection activities with production personnel, customers, Authorized Inspectors, and third-party inspectors Ensure fabrication and inspection activities comply with applicable codes, specifications, drawings, and customer requirements Qualifications Previous work experience in quality control, inspection, or a related field 3-5 years of experience inspecting ASME pressure vessels, piping, and/or industrial fabrication CWI certification preferred Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience required Experience with ASME Section
VIII, ASME

IX, ASME B31.3, AWS
D1.1, the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), and other applicable industry codes and standards Experience with ASME Code construction and documentation Working knowledge of
ISO 9001
Quality Management Systems preferred Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and inspection documentation Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with production personnel, customers, inspectors, and management
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
